The YEP Award is a special prize within the Young Engineers Programme of the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE). A Jury selects two outstanding contributions presented by Young Engineers at IABSE Conferences and present them with the “Outstanding Contribution Award”, consisting of a diploma and a money prize. The financial support to this programme is since 2009 exclusively offered by IABSE Fellows. At the 40th IABSE Symposium, held in Nantes (France) in September 2018 one of the two awards has been won by Dr. Marco Furinghetti, thanks to the presentation entitled “Optimized design of Seismic Isolation Systems for Existing Bridges”. The presented research has been developed thanks to the support of the Italian Civil Protection department, within the framework DPC-EUCENTRE.
