On April 18th, 2024, in Tirana, the module – dedicated to assistance to the population and the use of DESIGNA – of the training course for Albanian civil protection experts, implemented as part of a European project and organised by the Civil Protection Department in collaboration with Eucentre, ended with great success. This event marked a turning point in emergency management training, with a particular focus on areas at risk from earthquakes.
During the course, participants were able to immerse themselves in the DESIGNA (Distributed Environment to Support Individual and General Needs of Accommodation) system, the platform developed to optimise the assistance and management of populations affected by disasters. The training covered various aspects of the emergency, from immediate assistance to the population to the management of medium- and long-term housing solutions.
The course module included practical activities on the DESIGNA system, discussions and a final test to consolidate the skills acquired by the participants. The participants now know how the Italian civil protection system deals with the issue of assisting the population affected by disasters and how DESIGNA can support the various operators and make the management and reporting of costs more effective and efficient.
This training course is just one of many efforts by Eucentre to promote global earthquake safety and emergency preparedness. We will continue to work closely with local and international authorities to ensure that the latest technologies and strategies are always
