The Eucentre Foundation decided to set up its own publishing house in 2002, with the aim of:
- publish volumes of high scientific content and high quality, distributed at reasonable prices to especially favor students;
- significantly reduce the time between the draft phase and final production, favoring the printing of texts on the state of the art of risk reduction, in particular the seismic one;
- to recognize authors of royalties significantly higher than those offered by conventional publishing houses, stimulating renowned experts to propose high quality texts.
Founded initially under the name IUSSPress, the publishing house has published books, monographs, reports and magazines over the years, also counting on countless contributions by leading figures of seismic engineering from all over the world, in order to concretely support students and professionals.
Some of the most significant volumes have recently been updated and reprinted.
In addition, Eucentre publishes the technical-scientific review Progettazione Sismica, a four-monthly, focusing on the themes of risk reduction, which has the aspiration to increase the culture of prevention through constant information and awareness raising.
The contributions, which over the years have focused on the many practical aspects concerning the design and construction of new structures (in reinforced concrete, steel, wood, masonry, prefabricated, including bridges and infrastructures) and the seismic retrofit of existing ones, deal with also assessments of danger, microzonation and input, vulnerability and seismic risk, innovative solutions, insulation and dissipation systems, modeling and numerical analysis, geotechnical aspects, interpretation of standards, in situ and laboratory tests.
Progettazione Sismica has collected and disseminated a considerable amount of information on the earthquake of 2009 in Abruzzo, on that of 2011 in Japan (also translating the numerous contributions from the reconnaissance teams operating on the field in the hours immediately after the event), was the first to distribute a single issue on the events that hit Emilia in May 2012 and dedicated a single issue to the seismic crisis that affected Central Italy between 2016 and 2017.
From 2017 the magazine is distributed in digital format keeping the paper format in an on-demand version.
