Davide Bellotti, Eucentre’s technical expert, will participate in the EU MODEX exercise, dedicated to the management of seismic and medical emergencies, which will be held in Lisbon from 27 to 31 January 2025. The European Commission confirmed Ing. Bellotti’s participation testifies to our role in the preparation and management of seismic emergencies at an international level.
The MODEX (Modular Exercise), a programme for training and preparing modules and international experts for missions within the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, will be a practical field designed to simulate interventions in post-earthquake emergency scenarios. In this context, Ing. Bellotti will work as a technical expert in structural engineering in the EUCPT team (European Union Civil Protection Team), working alongside a group of international search and rescue (USAR) and medical specialists called upon to test their operational skills in a critical and realistic context.
This experience is a further step in the advanced training of our specialists, consolidating Eucentre’s role in promoting seismic safety. Participation in the MODEX international exercises is not only an opportunity for our experts to grow but also helps to strengthen cooperation and coordination between European countries in responding to seismic emergencies.
Eucentre has always placed practical training and international coordination at the heart of its mission throughout its 20 years of activity. Participating in exercises of this calibre allows our staff to put into practice the skills they have acquired in the seismic and structural fields and strengthen the network of collaborations with the main European institutions involved in civil protection.
This activity reflects our commitment to seismic risk reduction, a goal we pursue through advanced research, experimental testing, and the development of innovative methods. Our goal is always to safeguard lives and reduce infrastructure damage.
