Department Risk Scenarios
Marta Faravelli graduated in Structural Engineering on December 2006 from the University of Pavia. In January 2007 she started her collaboration with EUCENTRE where she still works with the role of Researcher. Her topics of interest are seismic vulnerability assessment of structures at different scales and elaboration of risk maps and damage scenarios.
She is author/co-author of more than 50 scientific publications.
Since the L’Aquila earthquake in 2009, she has been involved in field assessment of the usability of ordinary and public buildings following seismic events.
She is involved in the projects that EUCENTRE carries out for the Italian Civil Protection Department in the context of defining seismic risk maps for residential buildings, school buildings, hospitals and churches.
As part of Technologies for Smart Communities and Cities funded by the Lombardy Region, she coordinated for EUCENTRE the SIMULATOR and SIMULATOR-ADS projects (ModULAre Integrated System for Risk Management and Prevention – Enriched with Satellite Data).
She has participated in several European projects including NERA (Network of European Research Centers for Seismic Risk Definition and Mitigation), TURNKEY (Development of a Multi-sensor-based Information System enabling Earthquake Forecasting, Early Warning and Rapid Response actions) and BORIS (cross BOrder RISk assessment for increased prevention and preparedness in Europe).
She is currently involved in the European projects IPA CARE (Capacity for Risk Management of Earthquakes and Health Emergencies) and BORIS2 (Cross BOrder RISk assessment for increased prevention and preparedness in Europe: way forward).
Furthermore, she coordinates for EUCENTRE the Multi-Country Study (Comprehensive analysis of disaster risk landscape and capacity to respond) funded by DG ECHO.
